NO TAN.
I liked this a lot because it even though it was published in 1939 it still reads fresh. The way Chandler spells okay (okey) was a bit odd and I kept reading it as oh key, which doesn't make sense, but here we are. It always feels like the characters are talking really fast for some reason, but we don't have time to goof around fast. There's no gimmick here, Marlowe is a badass p.i. and who is on the case and goes above and beyond the call of duty. The refreshing depiction of L.A. in this book is different from the sun and glitz that I'm used to reading about.
This being the 3rd book in the series I like it much better than the first two, so I am glad I contined with the series. I already bought book 4&5 that are in my list of to be read.
i read this in two days, holed up in a cheap hotel in italy. best vacation ever.
